The fast food chicken sandwich wars are never-ending. After the Chick-Fil-A and Popeyes chicken sandwiches went head to head last fall, several restaurants have launched new options or revamped their classic chicken sandwich to stay ahead relevant, like KFC and the Lee’s Famous Recipe. Wendy’s is the latest franchise to level up their fried chicken sandwich with the release of the new Classic Chicken Sandwich, which will replace the old Homestyle version.
The new option will feature an extra crispy layer of breading and juicy chicken filet, topped with lettuce, pickle, tomato, and mayo on a toasted bun. This is already a step up from many of the industry’s alternatives, which typically only feature pickles and mayo on top.
For just five dollars, customers can snag the new sandwich, and if you order via the mobile app, you can get it for $3. Customers can also get the new chicken filet on Wendy’s other sandwiches, like the Asiago Ranch Chicken Club and Bacon Jalapeno Chicken Sandwich.
In addition to the Classic Chicken Sandwich, Wendy’s has rolled out several other new menu items in 2020, like the Pretzel Bacon Pub Burger (you can now swap the beef patty for the crispy chicken one!) and the Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich and Maple Bacon Chicken Croissant from the brand new breakfast menu.
