Best Calorie Counter Apps

If you are watching your weight and have fitness goals, you need a way to track your calorie intake. That’s a general rule whether you eat fast food or not.

In this short article, we will discuss some calorie counter apps that let you view the nutrition information about fast food meals as well as keep  track of your calories. We will make sure that all apps have the nutritional information about general fast food items such as the Big Mac and the Whopper.

As we’ve talked about it in the past, the best strategy to weight loss is to eat fast food in moderation and watch what you eat. You should always be aware of what you are ingesting whether it is fast food, dine in, or home made.

So let’s look at some calorie counter apps, shall we?

MyFitnessPal – Free

Calorie Counter AppsFrom my experience, MyFitnessPal has been the best app to use in terms of tracking my caloric intake for the day. They have just about every type of food in their database and that is true for fast food meals as well.

Their large food database is due in part because of many users that contribute nutritional information about meals. If you find a meal that isn’t in their database, you can easily add one.

Aside from allowing you to track your calories, MyFitnessPal also gives you the ability to keep a track of your workouts. So in a way, it is a very complete nutritional app. When it comes to calorie tracking apps, I believe nothing beats MyFitnessPal.

MyFitnessPal is available for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry.

Restaurant Nutrition – Free

Restaurant Nutrition is another fantastic app to find the nutritional content of fast food meals. In fact, it is better than MyFitnessPal in some ways (Notice I wrote in some ways, not all).

Although its food database is not as big as MyFitnessPal’s, it organizes the meals by restaurant’s name. So if you are at McDonald’s, you can just find McDonald’s in the list and view all McDonald’s meals. This comes in handy, as you don’t have to type each individual meal in the search box.

Fast Food Calorie Counter for Android – $0.99

Although this app is not free, it is only 99 cents and it is about as specific as you can get. It shows you a list of most fast food restaurants and you can just scroll through them and find your restaurant.

It behaves in a similar manner as the Restaurant Nutrition app, but this one simply focuses on fast food restaurants so it is less cluttered.

If you eat at many dine in restaurants as well as fast food, you should go for the Restaurant Nutrition app, but if you mainly eat at fast food, give Fast Food Calorie Counter a try!

Fast Food Calories for iPhone – Free

Very similar app to the Fast Food Calorie Counter for Android except it is for an iPhone and was made by different developers. The core idea is pretty much the same though.

It gives you a list of all fast food restaurants in its database and you can easily view them based on restaurant’s name.

Conclusion

I could have listed 10 more calorie counter apps but it would have gotten pretty repetitive. All of these apps share a similar concept yet have a different user interface so I would suggest for you to try them all and see which one you like best.

If you need to download an app right away and don’t have time to try them all, just get MyFitnessPal app and you should be good to go!

Do you use any of these calorie counter apps and if so, which one? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment.
