10-inch and 12-inch pizzas are everywhere, but what about 19-inch pizzas for only $11.99? This is the menu item that got people talking about Sal’s Pizza, an Italian restaurant chain with stores all over Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and beyond. Serving more than 15 different kinds of pizzas, they’ve been attracting regular customers since the 1990s because of their reasonable prices and time-tested recipes.

In fact, there’s been so much demand that Sal’s Pizza makes around 60,000 pizzas every week across all of its franchises and stores. Their 19-inch pizzas are also available in various supermarkets. Since 2020, they’ve stepped up their delivery game, complete with campaigns where people can donate pizzas. Since non-traditional eating options are becoming more popular, they even offer home kits for making your own pizza, complete with extra condiments. On the side, they’ve come up with a fundraising program where they can donate 15% of sales to specific organizations.

Although their main stores are in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, you’ll find many Sal’s Pizza franchises across other states, including Illinois, Dallas, and Missouri. Depending on the store, their usual hours are from around 11 AM to 9 PM.

Sal’s Pizza Menu Overview

Because there are so many Sal’s Pizza stores, there can be some variation in the number of menu items offered at each location. However, at your regular Sal’s Pizza store, you can expect to find at least 15 pizzas with a wide range of toppings, including meat, chicken, and veggie specialties. They also round out the menu with calzones, sides, salads, and desserts. Drinks come in at around $2 or $3, with either small bottles or two-liter servings available.

On the other hand, there are also Sal’s Pizza stores that operate as mobile kitchens. These aren’t full-on restaurants, so the menu consists entirely of pizzas–no sides or calzones included. However, they also tend to serve up more kinds of pizzas, even reaching more than 30! Aside from specialty and crafted pizzas, you might also be able to take advantage of gluten-free options.

Pizza Highlights

For all the different kinds of pizzas that Sal’s Pizza offers, they’ve actually stuck with their classic recipe ever since they opened the store–after all, it’s worked for them for 25 years. Interestingly, the founders are siblings who came from an italian immigrant family and then got inspired by North End eateries in Boston. They make sure to use 100% mozzarella cheese, hand-stretched dough, and locally grown veggies along with tomatoes from Northern California. The result is a thin-crust pizza that’s soft and tasty, with generous amounts of toppings and real cheese.

If you already have specific toppings in mind, you can go for crafting your own pizza instead of ordering their specialties. There are six sizes for you to choose from, followed by more than 25 toppings. This also allows you to try their infamous 19-inch pizza, which weighs in at 3 pounds. Since it’s only $11.99, that’s already a bargain considering the size.
