I’m a big fan of appetizers – sometimes, I’ll even order one as my “meal” if my kids don’t eat it all before their food arrives. Samplers are excellent choices for families or groups because they offer a little bit of everything, and everyone at the table can generally find an item they like. Buffalo Wild Wings offers their Tablegate Sampler, and true to its name, it gives us a taste of a few of their most popular items to “sample” hold the table over until our favorite wings are ready.

History and Inspiration

Known for their large TV’s broadcasting live games, their fantastic beer selection, and their growing wing sauce selections, Buffalo Wild Wings is the place to go for entertainment and time with friends. Sampler plates are popular for groups and game days, so it only makes sense for Buffalo Wild Wings to offer a sampler or two. They’ve created and discontinued several of their samplers, like their Southwestern Sampler, and some have stood the test of time, like their House Sampler. Experimenting with different flavors and combinations is the name of the game at B-Dubs so let’s dip into one of the most famous samplers.

Types of Samplers

Buffalo Wild Wings’ offers three types of samplers. The Tablegate Sampler includes wings, soft pretzels, pita chips, queso, spinach artichoke dip, and roasted garlic mushrooms. The House Sampler features ultimate nachos with chicken, beer-battered onion rings, mozzarella sticks, boneless wings, marinara sauce, and southwestern ranch dressing. You could ask to substitute the boneless wings for bone-in wings, but there may be a price difference, so be sure to ask your server. B-Dubs also offers a Party Platter, a sampler that includes mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, beer-battered onion rings, marinara sauce, and southwestern ranch dressing.

Tablegate Sampler Review

The Tablegate Sampler is perfect for gatherings, groups, tailgates, and sports parties, but you’ll probably want to order a few. The choices are delicious, and they’ll go fast! These platters accompany wings and beer like they were all made for each other.

1.      Taste and Texture [5/5]

The Tablegate Sampler includes wings, soft pretzels, pita chips, queso, spinach artichoke dip, and roasted garlic mushrooms. You can choose your favorite wing sauce (link to wing sauce article when it’s live), and of course, this is the best part of the platter. The soft pretzels are a close second – soft, salty, and flavorful, they remind me of carnival pretzels. The pita chips are the perfect size and flavor for dipping into the spinach artichoke dip or queso, as long as they’re fresh. The spinach artichoke dip is creamy and salty, but it’s so tasty it’s hard to stop eating it. Just be sure to stir it every once in awhile, so it doesn’t harden. The roasted garlic mushrooms are small, bite-sized snacks that give you all the buttery garlic flavor that works best with sautéed mushrooms. Dipping sauces round out the platter, and if you love one or the other, ask for an extra side bowl.

2. Are they healthy? [1/5]

This sampler is so full of sodium that you might want to skip other sodium-rich dishes for a few days after indulging – it has about three times the recommended daily allowance for sodium. It’s also high in calories, carbs, and fat, and even the vegetable portion (artichoke and mushrooms) of the Tablegate Sampler leans towards the unhealthy side. If you are on any dietary restrictions, this sampler isn’t the best choice.

3. Are they Worth it? [4/5]

Samplers are generally excellent choices for satisfying various taste preferences, and the Tablegate Sampler is no exception. The only complaint might be that there isn’t enough to go around. In that case, there’s no real problem – just order another one. I enjoy each serving of this platter, and unless I order spicy wings, all of my kids enjoy them too. The price is fair, and the environment at Buffalo Wild Wings is a fun place to indulge in fun foods and enjoy cheering on our favorite teams. Even if you order this sampler to go, it’s worth it.

Final Verdict

While I enjoy this sampler, it’s second to the House Sampler, which is my favorite platter at Buffalo Wild Wings. The biggest difference is that the house Sampler offers mozzarella sticks, which are my kids’ absolute favorite. But besides that, it’s a great choice, and it makes everyone full and satisfied.

Tablegate Sampler Pricing

The Tablegate Sampler hovers around $14, which is similar in price to their House Sampler. Of course, if you want a super good deal, you can visit Buffalo Wild Wings during their Happy Hour. The platters aren’t currently offered on the Happy Hour menu, but it’s a great way to bulk up a sampler for a low price.
