Equipment

  • standing mixer

Ingredients

For the Biscuit Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 stick salted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cup mild or medium cheddar cheese, shredded

Biscuit Topping Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 tbsp salted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  • First, preheat oven to 450 degrees, and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In the bowl of a standing mixer, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Mix until the ingredients are combined. Next, add in the melted butter, but save a bit to brush over the top after the biscuits have been baked.
  • Next, slowly pour in the buttermilk to avoid splashing. Mix again until all of the ingredients are blended. Add the cheddar cheese, and mix again briefly.
  • Using a large spoon, place big rounded scoops of biscuit dough onto the lined cookie sheets. There will be enough dough for 12 medium biscuits. Then bake for 10 minutes.
  • After the biscuits have baked, remove them from the oven and gently brush the melted butter topping over them. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Be sure to include the baking powder to this recipe, which helps the biscuits to rise and gives them the fluffy texture.
  • If you don't have buttermilk, you can make your own. Take ½ tbsp of plain vinegar or lemon juice and add ¾ cup of 2% milk. Stir it well and then let it rest.
  • You could also make these biscuits in batches and use them for a few meals. They will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
