Starbucks Caramel Snickerdoodle Macchiato

The Starbucks Caramel Snickerdoodle Macchiato is actually not a macchiato at all. You see, this secret menu drink contains all the same ingredients as the fan-favorite Caramel Macchiato with soy milk, but this one comes “upside-down,” making all the delightful layers of the traditional beverage blend together. But what about the snickerdoodle part, you might ask? There’s a special ingredient to make your macchiato taste like your favorite holiday cookie, and we’re about to spill all the tea (erg – coffee) on what it is.

How to order the Secret Menu

Most coffee drinkers who order the Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks don’t know that it’s a purposefully-layered drink. Everyone’s questioned it a time or two – why are the milk, caramel, and espresso all separated?! But it’s for a good reason, sort of. The original beverage is supposed to be hot and drank from a mug, so when it’s sipped, all the flavors blend together. However, most of us order it iced with a straw, so that defeats the whole purpose – and you probably just shake/stir it up as soon as you get your hands on it. Fortunately, with this secret menu macchiato, it comes pre-blended, or “upside down” as some people like to call it.

To order this delightfully sweet and rich drink, ask for an “upside down’ iced Caramel Macchiato with soy milk. If the barista doesn’t know what that means, just ask for it mixed together. Then, add:

  • Vanilla Syrup
    • 1 pump tall
    • 1.5 pumps grande
    • 2 pumps venti
  • Cinnamon Dolce Syrup
    • 1 pump tall
    • 1.5 pumps grande
    • 2 pumps venti

I suppose you could order this drink hot as well since there’s snow on the ground these days. For more Starbucks secret menu drinks to order this season, check out the Christmas Cookie Frappuccino and Snickerdoodle Cold Brew.
