The fast food Chicken Sandwich Wars are back for round two. Last week, KFC announced the release of a brand new chicken sandwich, creatively named the KFC Chicken Sandwich, and it looks eerily like Popeyes‘ ultra-popular menu item. And now, another fast food joint is taking its chance at stealing the spotlight. Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken has added a brand-new fried chicken sandwich to the menu. Will it measure up to its competitors?
The new chicken sandwich features a thick, four-ounce chicken fillet with white meat. It’s hand-battered with a honey coating and fried to golden perfection. Sliced dill pickles are placed on top of the fillet, and it’s drizzled with Lee’s signature chipotle ranch dressing and finished off with a toasted brioche bun. The sandwich comes in two flavors – Spicy and Famous.
“We’re excited to bring a chicken sandwich to our customers,” stated Chuck Cooper, President and CEO of Lee’s Famous Recipe® Chicken via a news release. “With all the news about chicken sandwiches, our fans have been clamoring to see a chicken sandwich on our menu and we’re happy to be able to bring the famous flavor and quality to them in a sandwich form.”
Customers can get Lee’s Chicken Sandwich for $3.99 at most restaurants, but pricing may vary by location. However, the sandwich is only available until June 28, 2020, so if you want to see how it stacks up to the competition, you’ve only got a few weeks to do so.
