When you think donuts, you probably don’t think spicy – until now, that is. Dunkin’ usually sticks with sweet, sugary, and creamy flavors when it comes to their bakery treats, but this fall, the coffee chain is testing something new. The Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut will incorporate some of those traditional flavors, paired with an unexpected kick.
The Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut features Dunkin’s original yeast donut with a strawberry icing and cayenne and ghost pepper. This Halloween treat will be around for just a couple of months until the end of December.
“Halloween looks a little different this year, and so do our donuts,” stated Jill Nelson, Vice President, Marketing Strategy at Dunkin’. She continued, “While our classic bakery offering has plenty of crave-worthy treats, we’re excited to show our spicy side with a donut that packs a touch of heat with something sweet and can be enjoyed any time of day.”
Other Halloween Treats
In addition to the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut, Dunkin’ will also be offering customers a few more festive treats to celebrate spooky season. DIY Dunkin’ Donut Decorating Kits are available for a limited time and come with plain yeast or Old Fashioned donuts, as well as orange, white, and black icing and sprinkles. Customers can choose between a 4-count and 9-count box.
The Spider Donut is also making its return this Halloween, featuring a classic donut topped with orange icing and a chocolate Munchkins donut hole. To complete this festive masterpiece, the donut is also topped with chocolate icing for the spider legs and white for the eyes.
